Who are we

Peace and love, and welcome to Living Library: Adoption & Foster — a community by us, for us. If you’re here, it’s by divine timing.

We are Egypt and Eliza (also known as Penny and Kakra), twin sisters born in a small village in the heart of Ghana, Africa. Before being adopted with our little brother at age nine, we lived in two orphanages. Growing up in a small town in Washington State as some of the only Black kids, we fought to maintain our identity and culture while navigating a world so different from where we came from.

Through sports and art, we found ways to express ourselves, even as we lost our language and were separated from our biological family. These experiences shaped who we are and sparked our lifelong dedication to service.

Over the years, we have worked with adults with disabilities, taught sports, outdoor education, art, leadership, and led online mentorship and spiritual classes. After reconnecting with our biological family 16 years post-adoption, we felt a calling to create a safe space for parents and adopted kids — something we wish we had during our own journey.

Living Library: Adoption & Foster is that space. We are here to offer guidance, wisdom, and support for others navigating this unique, nuanced path.
